Maple Grove Senior High School (MGSH) Principal Dr. Bart Becker was selected as this year’s Principal of the Year through the Minnesota Association of Secondary School Principals (MASSP) Hennepin Division.

Greg Martin, President of MASSP Hennepin Division, attended the school’s May 22 spring pepfest to surprise Becker with the award alongside other school and district leaders.

The MGSH student body enthusiastically celebrated Becker’s award, chanting his name and cheering as he accepted the plaque.

Becker shared that the plaque, which is inscribed with “Dr. Becker,” reminds him of his mother, who became Dr. Becker years before he did and who also served as a high school principal. He dedicated his award to her.

“Our school community is truly special because of Principal Becker’s caring leadership and genuine love for his students and staff,” MGSH’s assistant principals said. “Whether he’s ending a morning announcement with his signature “I love you guys,” or cheering alongside students at pep fests, Dr. Becker embodies what it means to be a Crimson. His deep commitment to student growth, high expectations for all and value of multiple perspectives while honoring our traditions and inspiring school spirit, has created a place where students and staff feel valued, connected, and proud to be part of something bigger. Our Crimson Family’s energy and unity are a direct reflection of his warmth, dedication and belief in all of us.”
