Student-athletes from Maple Grove Senior High (MGSH), Osseo Senior High (OSH) and Park Center Senior High (PCSH) took part in various state tournaments through the Minnesota State High School League for fall 2025. Take a look at how our local athletes fared in this fall’s biggest high school competitions:

Adapted soccer: (PI):

The Park Center Pirates took home the state championship title Nov. 15 at White Bear Lake Area High School, the team’s first championship title since 1998. The team, comprised of athletes from all district high schools, first played St. Paul Humboldt in the quarterfinals round of the state tournament, winning 10-3. In the semifinals round, the Pirates took on the Rochester Raiders, winning 10-6. In the championship game, the Pirates played reigning state champions the Minneapolis Tigers and bested the team 2-1 with a pair of goals by Lincoln Scearcy. Scearcy, Ben Pfeifer and Evan Bartlett were selected to play on the league’s all-tournament team.

Cross country:

While Osseo Area Schools did not have full teams compete at the Nov. 1 AAA cross country state races this year, several district runners competed as individual athletes at the Les Bolstad Golf Course on the University of Minnesota campus.

For the boys, MGSH junior Lucas Capistrant led the way for district runners with a 28th place finish in 16:04.8 for the 5-kilometer race. PCSH junior Blake Beaver came in 56th place in 16:26.1. OSH senior Davin Christen followed in 71st place with a time of 16:35.0, and OSH senior Raleigh Rundquist placed 90th in 16:46.7.

In the girls race, a trio of runners from MGSH competed in the 5-kilometer race. Senior April Watson led with a 28th place finish in 18:47.6. MGSH freshman Dakoka Laux finished in 97th place with a 19:48.2 time, and sophomore Ella McLuen placed 110th in 20:06.4.

Football:

MGSH’s football team, who were the 6A state champions in 2024, went into this year’s state tournament undefeated and progressed through their early playoff games with relative ease, defeating East View and Eastridge in the first two rounds, respectively. In the quarterfinals round, Maple Grove fell to Lakeville South with a score of 31-49.

Boys soccer:

The MGSH boys soccer team had an impressive season followed by an appearance at the AAA state tournament. In the quarterfinals against Eagan, the team won in overtime 2-1. On Oct. 28, the team beat Buffalo 3-1 at US Bank Stadium. The championship game took place Oct. 31 versus Edina, where the Crimson lost 0-1. This is the team’s third consecutive runner-up finish in the state tournament, and the team finished the season with a 15-3-2 record.
